Animals on the farm

On a busy corner at the edge of the city among the dandelion filled grass you will find what we refer to as "the Burt Farm". We joke it's the talk of the town and everyone knows where the vet lives based on the number of animals in the yard.

There is often seen a free-spirited, usually barefoot little girl chasing after two very fast and rebellious dogs.

People stop to come to the fence and see the two little piggies that are rapidly growing.

The newest addition and clincher for people to stop and stare was the lambs popping up over night. "Mooney" the calf was the first resident on the farm. She wasn't to happy about sharing her space but is now happy to have some friends to play with.

These critters are all 4-H projects for the girls, which in turn are teaching them about responsibility and work. Some days we argue over why we need to check and make sure they all have fresh water or why we need to bring in the food from the rain, but for the most part the girls do the work and enjoy showing them off to the neighbors who stop to look.

P.S. I know it's not really a farm, it's more like a circus at our house!
