Christmas at our house

We woke up Christmas morning to this glorious sight.

It was white everywhere!

The wind swirled and howled all night leaving us with snow coated cars and drifts galore

Somehow Santa found his way amidst the storm brewing outside.

He left goodies of all kinds for everyone.

Much needed clothes to keep us warm,

toys to occupy our minds and imaginations

and the cutest present EVER!!!!

When the wrapping paper was all torn open

the girls couldn't wait to get outside

and leave traces of their angelic selves amongst the snow.

They even found a makeshift hill to slide down.

The drifts were really that deep!

Jordan is in past her knees and the snow was up to the bumper of the car.

It was a good day and in the end we were all tuckered out!

Twas the night before Christmas

Looks like we are going to have a white Christmas!

The snow started falling early this morning and it has now accumulated to about a foot outside. However, the wind is whipping it around and there are drifts building up everywhere. The kids anxiously watched out the window wishing they could get outside and play.

Kordale has been a good little boy and is hoping Santa will leave some toys for him under the tree.

Christmas Preprations

We have been busy preparing for Christmas around here.

To start it off we got the Christmas tree up and decorated and

made a gingerbread house in hopes the dog won't get ahold of it.

We celebrated the big "6" for Morgan!

We have performed in our school Christmas Programs

We've made multiple trips to see Santa, but Morgan still hasn't told him what she wants. However, he did tell Jordan she needs to clean her closet and Tori needs to clean under her bed.

But the best was getting to be part of a live nativity to remind

us of our Savior and the celebration of his birth.

Afterall, that's what Christmas is all about.

Happy Halloween Take 1

This is just the beginning of our Halloween fun! It's going to be an action packed week of costumes and candy. Stay tuned for the whole Wizard of Oz cast to appear soon.

Pumpkin Patch

Morgan's kindergarten class went to the pumpkin patch today.  They each got to pick their own pumpkin, Morgan went through about 10 before she finally settled on just the right one.

She smelled the flowers and said it was "buttery" 

Kordale wasn't to fond of the horrendous wind that was blowing out there, but he was a good trooper and finally closed his eyes and went to sleep.

It was alot of fun to go along and meet Morgan's friends and see how she interacts with them. 

Another attempt at Oklahoma camping

We took off for the long weekend and headed an hour north to Kaw Lake.  Chad and Jordan had plans to go deer hunting, while the rest of us just tagged along for time away from home and school!

Kordale not only had his first camping trip but we even let him have that first taste of a fire roasted marshmallow.  I'm sure in due time he will make torches out of them just like his sisters do.  

 

We played hard and enjoyed being together.  

We gathered around the fire and had many laughs.  Some about times gone by and also in the moment.  

We were sure to make plenty of time for naps though, afterall isn't that what camping is all about?

 

Dad kept us toasty warm in the tent with his tent stove (hard to see but it's the shiny thing behind Kordale's head) and his Paul Bunyan skills. 

 

It was a great weekend of remembering how to work together and have FUN!!!

**No deer were killed in the making of these memories, maybe next year.

A quick visit from granpa and grandma

Grandpa and Grandma Harris stopped in on their way home from New York last week.   We went to a wildlife expo and spent the whole day there.  It was full of fun activities and lots of things to see.  We got to shoot a bow, guns, climb a rock wall, go for a stroll in a kayak, and try out our balance on a rope bridge.  We were all VERY tired when we finally made it home.

On the way we stopped at POPS and got to pick a nice cold drink from and assortment of over 500 flavors from around the world-no Ting though :(

Back Porch Friends

Some people wake up to find soft, fluffy kittens on their back porch; others see cute little, furry dogs; some are lucky enough to be greeted by chirpping birds. I on the other hand wake up to little brown and white goats that enjoy basking in the warmth of the sunshine!

Let's go sight-seeing

Last weekend we decided it was time to go see some of the sights of Oklahoma. We headed to Oklahoma City to Bricktown. It's the old part of Oklahoma City that has been refurbished and is now a tourist attraction. It was pretty interesting and there was a lot we didn't go see, maybe that will be another weekend.

We started out our tour with a stop at the baseball stadium. Not a major league team but it was still cool to go inside and see the field.

We took the water taxi which actually used to be a road once upon a time. This was Kordale's first official boat ride. (sorry grandpa, you missed the boat on that one..LOL)
We had a small snack at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill
Oklahoma is known for the great land race that took place. In fact, Stillwater is where the race actually began.
We passed by the Sonic Headquarters. We may have to go back and get a route 44 drink at the sit in Sonic another day. Stillwater was also the first to have a drive-in Sonic...we go there A LOT!
We went to the Oklahoma City Memorial. That is where in 1995 the building was bombed and several hundred people were killed. This is the only wall that was still standing.
They have built a huge memorial on this site and placed chairs to indicate those who were killed and where they were in the building.
We of course, had to take advantage of those season passes we bought way back when we first got to Oklahoma and stop at the amusement park.
Kordale got his first ride on the carousel. He wasn't to excited about it at first, but once he found the colorful lights and heard the music he enjoyed it more.
The girls and I got in a few rides on the roller coasters and had some good laughs.
