1st day of Kindergarten, 4th grade and middle school

School started today!

Jordan actually went out the door first but I forgot to take her picture. It was rainy and lightening was going on over our house so we sat at the end of the street in the car and waited for the bus.
Morgan and Tori were excited to get going. If only every morning of school went as smoothly as the first day of school mornings go....you know the kids get ready really fast without all the struggle to get them out the door in time.
Anxiously watching for the bus to come. Morgan and Tori also got the taxi ride to the end of the street because of the rain.
Off to school on the big yellow bus. Morgan did really well with the bus and was excited about her first day of Kindergarten. Until she got to school and I walked her into her classroom, then the brakes went on and I had to coax her into the class. Luckily, the teacher came to my aid just as the water works started with Morgan. WHEW, I got out of there just in time before my own water works started. Afterall, Morgan has been my little companion through alot of changes in our family. Of course though when she got home it was all grins and laughter as she told/reenacted her first day of Kindergarten. However, she has already decided the black haired lunch lady is MEAN!
Jordan after her first day of middle school. She had an exciting day also, for some reason the school took her off their records because they claim they were informed she was moving to Nevada this week. HMMMM...I sense some serious miscommunication between elementary and middle school. After sitting in the office for 2 hours and being sent to 7th grade not 6th grade, she finally got re-enrolled and is now officially in 6th grade.
As for me, well I enjoyed a VERY quiet house and for the first few hours didn't really know what to do with my time. I quickly got into gear though and did some cleaning up that has been neglected due to our playing for the past few weeks. But, I'm tired tonight...this getting up at 6:30 with Jordan is going to KILL me!!!

Mud Babies

Fun in the mud on a hot summer day!
Even the dog got in on the fun...this was all from rubbing against Morgan, she didn't actually roll in the mud.
Then mom had fun....spraying them off with that COLD water! BAAAHAAAA!!!!

Kordale Jade Burt

Monday, was the blessed day that Kordale made his appearance. He weighed in at 6 lbs. 11.8 oz., and measures 19 1/2 inches. I'm not sure who won the guessing that we did on Sunday night, but we think it was Morgan.

The three little hens have decided he can stay and can't wait for him to get home!
More pictures to follow in the days to come

New baby in the house

After many semesters of dog, fish and turtle sitting while on the island. The girls finally got to go and get their long awaited dog. They saved up their money so that when we returned to the states they could have a pet of their own. She is definitely the baby of the house for now and even gets carried and bounced like a baby at times.

Chad is the one that named her with the girls approval. Her official name is Ketamine (which yes, to all of you in medicine world that is a drug). We call her Kettie for short, since she will be out house cat :)
She loves to play and chase after the girls and is quickly getting house trained.
She is only 9 weeks old, but won't get to much bigger then a house cat. She's an italian greyhound for all those that don't know.

Oklahoma!

We have been here for 2 weeks now and so I thought I would fill everyone on in the things we have found to do since getting here.

It was freezing cold when we hit the border of Oklahoma, but the girls were troopers and endured the few minutes out of the car. Since we had driven nearly the entire trip on Route 66 (known in today's world as Interstate 40, it goes from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois) we decided a stop at the museum was necessary.
We had alot of fun exploring the farm portion of the museum. The girls learned all about shucking corn and then grinding it for corn meal.
We thought we left the giant ant hills behind in St. Kitts, but NOPE we were wrong! The ants build these mushroom looking hills. So far we haven't encountered stepping on one these hills.

Tori tried out her driving skills along the historic Route 66. Luckily she had help staying on the road, since she could barely see over the steering wheel.
Chad, Morgan and Jordan enjoyed the drive in movie "Creature from the black lagoon".
The weekend came after our arrival to Stillwater and we ventured back into Oklahoma City, without a trailer in tow. After doing some shopping we found an amusement park (Frontier City) . We splurged and bought season tickets for 2 parks. The girls can't wait for it to warm up so we can go check out the water park next.
Morgan wanted to ride EVERY single rollercoaster! She has absolutlely NO fear of the things and comes off with a huge grin every time!
A view of OKC from the ferris wheel. This and the carousel are about the only rides I can go on for another month or so. I'm looking forward to taking Morgan on those rollercoasters though come July!
Another view of the landscape from the ferris wheel.
Morgan didn't enjoy having to wait while her sisters got to ride the bumper cars. She was devastated that she could go also. Maybe we need to invest in some platform tennis shoes to get her a little taller :)

County Fair Cook Off!

The Clark County Fair was this past weekend, so each of the girls wanted to make something and see if they could win a ribbon.
Here they are getting ready to take their goods for judging.

Tori made brownies with carmel drizzled on top.

Lexi made chocolate chip cookies.

Jordan made her famous no bake cookies.

Morgan didn't want to miss out on the fun so we found her an easy peanut butter candy recipe. Mom helped measure ingredients, but Morgan did the mixing.

All the girls won a blue ribbon for participation and a green ribbon for Class Act Award. Today, when we picked up the ribbons and judges critique it actually said on the back of Morgan's "Judge's Choice Award".

Impromptu Photo Shoot

This afternoon, when all the girls were dressed I decided that since Tori was wearing her baptism dress it was about time I got some pictures of her in it. So here it is 6 months later and I'm finally getting it done. I know...new hair cut, pierced ears, tan all gone...but hey better late than never right?

Don't mind the lovely chapped lips...it's much drier here then our life on the island. Tori is constantly fighting with chapped lips. Thank goodness for photo shop and friends that know how to use it.

When Tori's turn was up, Morgan and Jordan decided they wanted their turn in the spotlight. It's not often I can get these 3 to all smile and look like they really do love each other! However, I'm so happy when they do!

Morgan is definitely not camera shy and VERY photogenic if I can be a little bias as the mom :)
I didn't think Jordan would want her picture taken, but she surprised me and came and took her place on the stool. Thank you Jordan for still being willing!

What to do on a warm day in January

Get out the water slide of course!!!!
It was a balmy 67* on Saturday, so in a weak moment I let the girls get the swimsuits on and add some water to the slide. They were in heaven, it was much better then just sliding down normal. Especially when grandpa added the soapy water!

When the slide fun was over it was time to make mud pies! Afterall, isn't that what all kids do with water, mud and imagination? The fun only lasted though until the sun dipped behind a cloud and began to disappear for the day. Then it was BRRRRRRR!
